Most of the tracks on the 3rd disc of the 3CD version are in mono!

Most of the tracks on my 3 CD version are stereo? I only include about 5 tracks from the 3 CD version in my playlist anyway. It's mostly just the War music that I take from the promo.

You're kidding? You mean the 5CD set that everyone else is talking about in this thread? Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Actually, the mono tracks are spread out over the 3CD's... I was thinking about the 5CD version which has a lot of 160k files on disc 4 and 5. And apparently the 3CD version is heavily edited a la The Phantom Menace Ultimate Edition.

    Here are the mono tracks.

    Pure Spirits Of The Forest
    Jake Sleeps
    Jake Meets The Na'vi
    Jake's First Flight
    Intro
    Great Leonoptryx

What I include in my playlist sounds fine to me. I actually prefer the original album version of 'War'. In fact, I've edited out the last section of the track (which is named 'A New Beginning' on the promo), and then stuck 'The Battle Continues' from the 3 CD version to the end of 'War'. After that is 'Quartich Down' and 'Fight To The Death', then 'A New Beginning' can play as the penultimate track to my playlist. Finally, it ends with the "End Credits" (the edits on the 3 CD promo, which need to be edited together as one track otherwise you get a sudden jolt in the middle of it).

The only tracks I've taken from the 5 CD promo is 'Intro' and 'The Hunt' which, again, I've edited together.

    ( dizzy )

Those extra tracks really do make the album so much better though, particularly when edited to flow better. My favourite score from last year, no doubt about it.

The War/Battle tracks on the 5 disc version I legally bought (ahem) are in 160kbps? Are yours the same?

All the tracks on the 3 disc promo are 320kbps. But then even comparing the 320kpbs files from the 3 disc version to the 320kbps files on the 5 disc version, I honestly can't notice any difference? What is specifically worse/better about the two versions?

God this is a nerdy conversation! biggrin

You know, it's strange. You're right about 160kbps on the later section of the 5 disc version.
I just tried a comparison between the 5 disc and 3 disc version and still I find the 160kbps version clearer and more dynamic sounding. And I'm no fan of low rate MP3s. So I'm baffled by this! Maybe I got duped with "320kbps" version somehow. I don't know. But I'm happy with this current batch.

Very confusing. Perhaps I have a different 3 CD version to your 3 CD version? (Or, again, maybe I'm deaf? wave <-clearing my ears out)

Either way, what I have works for me! love

3CD set? I don't think all the music is on that set. I want a 15CD set. I want every single note Horner wrote / thought / dreamt for Avatar. Oh, with the highest quality, of course.

Ah, if you want all the notes Horner dreamt for Avatar, I have this nice little substance that will transport you straight into dreamland where you can hear them.... cheesy

    Ok, good, cool

    Take this pill.

And then you will need to take your physical Avatar CD and/or any promos you have, and start playing them after you take the pill, to serve as an anchor between the physical realm and the dream realm, so that you will be transported directly into the dreamspace of James Horner and his Avatar work, instead of having to spend an eternity searching through billions of people's dreamspaces. That would be...annoying.

    do not be afraid.

    NP:Con Air (Mancina and Rabin)

    Wild. really Wild.

Again. it remember me the years where I only was worried about How many electric guitars will be played in the scores. When I didn't know nothing about the music until I listen it in the movie. When i didn't know nothing about additionals...Innocence!!!!

While Zimmer defined the power anthems (Crimson tide, The Rock and king Arthur) Mancina defined the other side: Speed, Bad Boys, Fair Game (the next realease?), Speed 2 and Con Air.
(I think Black Rain or Thelma and Louise plays in another league)

I was playing the same as well....the ending of the series was so passionate for me, i can only remember those feelings via the series' music. Can't wait for next spring and the release for season 6's score.

I can't wait for said release to be 2 discs long! The finale was like a symphony of greatest hits from the series and it deserves its own disc.
