    NP: Inception - Hans Zimmer

    Currently rocking "Dream is Collapsing", a kick ass epic Zimmer cue. Wait, now it's "Radical Notion", a moody piece...with nice electronics and lots of TTR'sL minimalistic writing.

    I could'n agree more with your "selection"!!!

    "dream is collapsing" is really great, I love this change of tempo with the strings descending and then how the brass and the ankluns appears!

    "dream within a dream" and " one simple idea" are really great too.

    Anyway, I wonder if Mantsell (moon, the fountain) and Martinez (Solaris, Wicker park) could have been composed a better soundscape....I think Zimmer has worked too much with the orchestra that he is a little bit dated with the electronics.

    Er...The Dark Knight? Angels & Demons??

    The "dated" sound is clearly a deliberate stylistic choice, not a failing on Zimmer's part to keep up with the "modern" sound of electronics.

    I think Time is constructed in the same fashion as Journey to the Line, in the same mold as Chevalier other adagios that Zimmer has done... Demo? I've never thought of that until now.

    NP {Iron Man 2 - John Debney}

    Starting to like it a bit more than I did a month ago. The action rock/orchestral parts are the highlights, though still sound a bit dated to scores in the similar vein from the late 90s..

    When I say demo I mean 'Time' sounds like a cheaper, more synthesised version of Journey to the Line (or the other adagios you mention).

    I don't know? I just thought it better not to give my view that the score bores the pants off me and that an elongated version sounds like my idea of aural hell.

    I could mention something about John Barry at this point, but I won't because I'm better than that.

    Ahem.

    But yeah, 2 discs' worth of ID4 is too much I have to admit. Much better when edited down to its highlights on one disc.
