I don't know? I just thought it better not to give my view that the score bores the pants off me and that an elongated version sounds like my idea of aural hell.
Well, the theme is the worst part of all, and the complete version gives it more repetitions, infuriatingly. It just has way too many notes. It's longer than my attention span. I want it to be over and I zone out and then my attention comes back and the theme is still playing. Give me back my Zimmer and Howard short little themes that I can actually understand (although Howard was stretching it in the The Last Airbender when he made a theme with four notes, how dare he...)I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

I could mention something about John Barry at this point, but I won't because I'm better than that.
Ahem.
But yeah, 2 discs' worth of ID4 is too much I have to admit. Much better when edited down to its highlights on one disc.
I keep forgetting it's a favourite of yours.

Obviously a documentary on Christopher Crowe.

That sounds very scary indeed; especially if the shamppo is white.

The Ghost Writer - Alexandre Desplat
I'm starting to like the suspense/action side of Desplat just as much as, if not more than, the romantic Desplat.

NP: Inception (Zimmer)
Despite my misgivings about the overuse/overmixing of music in the film, I can't dispute that as an album, this is the best thing I've heard this year. (Desplat included, much as I like Ghost Writer.)A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

that's the problem. John Murphy, Clint Mantsel or Cliff martinez are better in the use of electronics soundscapes.
NP:Sherlock Holmes (Zimmer)
Despite it's not a easy to listen album it's a really original, inspired and genuine Zimmer score.

NP [On Wings of Victory - Michael Kamen]
Good stuff. The synth beat here is atypical of Kamen, as with the chanting chorus, AFAIK, but it's enjoyable and very fun to listen to. -

Just finished the first two hours of Erik's first Gerhart show. This is kind of my first real exploration into golden age film music. I have to say that these re-recordings sound really great. They don't sound at all like some golden age music that has seemed so dated to me. I liked East of Eden, 3 Coins in the Fountain, El Cid, and the Seahawk. My favorites, though, were Of Human Bondage, Escape Me Never, and The Philidelphia Story. I also really liked the beginning of the Prince Valiant suite. Great shows, Erik! I look forward to hearing them all. -

Seems everybody finds really great this score. ( clemmensen ,you and me aside). I'm surprised a lot of people compare the dramatic complexity to The Thin Red Line.
The score has growed on me, and it sure it will grow more after to watch the movie.
NP: Mombasa ( Zimmer)
I never play this track with the whole album, I think it doesn't fit at all with the rest of the music. But it's a cool music for a futuristic chase. -
