Great stuff and an absolutely gorgeous main theme! I never got the original release before it sold out, so I am happy that I got another chance with the expanded edition.

Thanks Timmer
Well, in all actuality I have been lurking from time to time. It's just been long since I've had the time to sit down and take enough of a good look at the posts to contribute.
I hope to more active again - things seem to be still good here at MainTitles and truth be told I have been missing the discussions!Luminous beings are we.. Not this crude matter. -

One of the classic and iconic themes. I think ( if I remember right? ) that there's only use of score three times in the film and two of those are opening and closing titles.

A Beautiful Mind - James Horner
The first score I ever heard from Horner and the first score I ever listened to, period. It's like reuniting with an old friend...

There's just 1 score that I've been playing in the last few days-
Frederic Talgorn - Anthony Zimmer
Love it! Talgorn sounds like what Desplat could if only the latter used less restraint. A solid orchestral work for a French thriller with a number of 'wow' moments! -

NP: TIMELINE - Jerry Goldsmith
Now listening on my home theatre system, which allows the big, robust themes to really shine.
It's interesting to see the different approaches between a veteran composer like Goldsmith and then what new generation composer Brian Tyler came up with. Although both utilize a big symphonic orchestra with only a hint of electronics for the scientific part of the story, and some strong thematic writing, it's Goldsmiths effort that has a straightforward, earnest and purely adventurous sound (almost 'old fashioned', if you will, which is not a criticism at all), while Tyler's version is a lot lighter and more tongue-in-cheek. Obviously he got the note to 'freshen things up' after the disastrous test screenings (it's like Nathan Barr recently said: "the directing isn't working, the acting is bad, the editing is a mess... lets fire the composer") and for the finished product, with a tight editing and a high pace, his score might work best.
Still, it would be nice to one day be able to see what the original cut with Goldsmiths score was like. It's the only reason I would arse myself to see this otherwise crapfest of a film again, one that miraculously manages to get not one, but two very decent scores. I'm enjoying the heck out of this! -

Because tomorrow I'm leaving for Sado Island, where trees like this are still alive...
It's not a holiday, it's a job (as teaching assistant in the research trip of undergraduate biology students).
But I can enjoy the nature

I love that score. I first listened to it during a "significant part of my life", so I have somewhat nostalgic feelings towards it (plus it's just a very good score). -

Just some of the writing style, especially for the woodwinds.
Anyway, I've stopped now and am on the original soundtrack for The Fellowship Of The Ring. Either I'm used to the complete recordings, but a lot of this music sounds vastly different from what's even in the movie. Heavily edited? -

I've always thought it sounded like the first score put through a Star Wars filter. Yet another fine score from what is arguably Williams' finest 'era'. -

It's a great score, I know that JAWS is a groundbreaking original and quite rightly a classic but it's almost always JAWS 2, I reach for out of the two film scores for a listening experience. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -
