A lot of people do it seems. Though I'll always take the original over the sequel; there's a charm to it that I find lacking in the sequel score, even though the sequel score is still very impressive.
  1. Hidalgo by James Newton Howard

One of the better adventure scores of James Newton Howard, though it misses the awesome music when they are escaping with the horse in the market sad

NP: Sherlock Holmes - Hans Zimmer

I'm enjoying this hugely! This score surprised the heck out of me - in a good way!

    Yellowstone - Edmund Butt

This is magnificent, Planet Earth-level music for the BBC documentary. Can't believe it hasn't been properly released (this is only a promo).

Wow, i only heard his "DARK" score and was captivated by it. Very interested in hearing this as well.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

It's not an easy listen but it's one of Zimmer best scores ever. it's highly energetic, inventive and with alot of interesting sounds and instruments (real instruments)

How I said, Angels And Demons, Sherlock Holmes and now Inception is Zimmer doing what he knows best: Having fun.

NP: Iron Man 2 - John Debney

I like this score mostly because of how RC-inspired it is.

Awesome score! ( the word 'awesome' being a properly appropriate word in this case )

Andes to Amazon (IMAX) Nicholas Hooper

Playing this gem of a score for the umpteenth time! Makes me wonder if there's anything decent from his Potter scores I'm missing out on?

    Yes, I'm quite serious.
  2. Presumed Innocent - John Williams

It always surprises me how forgotten this score is, considering the quality of the writing and how different it is from the typical Williams styles that people are used to.

An interesting point? Andes To Amazon is a superb listen ( thank you Martin 'Tintin' for turning me on to this one ), but I've not heard a single note of Hooper's Potter score.

I've heard a couple of cues on Classic FM that sounded quite interesting, but I've never managed to listen to a Hooper-Potter score in its entirety. I get the sense he's capable of good music, but not-so-interesting scores.

Case in point: Andes to Amazon contains some wonderful music, but there's no real ebb or flow to the score. (Although that might be mostly due to the subject nature?)

Yep, I've always loved the theme and sound of this score. One of his most atmospheric scores.

He's seriously not done much interesting work aside from this.
Every single other work from him, I lose interest half-way through.

That's right: it's very scene-driven. As indeed the format of the documentary dictates.

He also did a good score for Land Of The Tiger where he incorporated some traditional Indian material quite well. Haven't heard Andes To Amazon yet, will check it out.

I do like some of his music from the HP scores, but I think he wasn't really fit for the series for most of the part.

I was rather disappointed by Land Of the Tiger. I much prefer Michael Brooks' similarly styled India: Kingdom Of The Tiger, which is a wonderful listen!

JP: SPEED 2: CRUISE CONTROL - Mark Mancina
What is essentially a rather repetitive action score for percussion and orchestra, is made thoroughly entertaining by continuously using the old Speed themes and great new ones. Still lacking a bit in color sometimes, but nonetheless a thrilling, fun score with a high nostalgia factor.
