Speaking of Skyfall, I need help putting together a playlist. I need to know the exact order that the cues played in the film, including the Adele song (I do that for a lot of Newman's scores, especially with the Mendes films).

Pretty much everything after "Granborough Road" on the album plays exactly as it does in the film, but before that it's all mixed up. Anyone know?

Yes - Antony put this together a couple of days ago in the Skyfall thread...

I think that's probably because Rahman wrote actual Indian music and Newman and Danna write North American approximations of it!

Then the approximations is what i prefer smile

Why don't they release "A Short History of Time"? I own a nice piano solo version though.

    Condorman - Henry Mancini

Comic artist and writer Woody (Michael Crawford) performs a simple courier operation for his friend Harry who works for the CIA . But when he successfully fends off hostile agents , he earns the respect of the beautiful Natalia , who requests his assistance for her defection . Woody uses this request as leverage to use the CIA's resources to bring his comic book creation , Condorman , to life to battle the evil Krokov.

One of my favourite films as a youngster and except for the now outdated looking effects it still has lots of charm . I always loved the Condorman theme and 10 years later Leonard Rosenman kinda did the same with Robocop 2 ... This is a nice Intrada release which brings back a lot of great memories for me ... Condormaaaan ! smile

In much the same way, I prefer James Horner's approximations of Scottish music than legitimate Scottish music such as "Donald, Where's Your Trousers?" (with apologies to Alan because he probably listens to that at least once a day).

Easy: turn the lights off, watch the movie. It makes a whole lot new sense.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.
  3. Just listening to "Prometheus" (Streitenfeld). I hated that score when it was released and even called it "garbage". Well, I am still not a great fan of the score but strangely I like it much better now. Either my standards have lowered or my bad mood came in the way of my judgement back then.

"Weyland" reminds me of "Paul meets Chani" from ToTo's "Dune".

Harry Gregson-Williams "Live" theme is awsome.

I am going to see the film for the first time tomorrow. That's why I wanted to revisit the score again.

I saw this performed live to the film at the Barbican on Friday, with the Glass Ensemble, Britten Sinfonia and chorus - a stunning and utterly mesmerising experience (followed up with another Glass Ensemble performance at Union Chapel on Saturday).

NP: For Greater Glory - James Horner

I'm hung up on the main theme. Horner does vocals so masterfully.

I'm interested in reading what your impression will be. I heard the album and only liked Harry's contributions, along with some small Streitenfeld pieces. Then I saw the movie and found that it didn't change my opinion at all.

    The Hobbit - Howard Shore

Slowly but surely this score is weaving its spell over me!
At first there was too much to digest but it's slowly unraveling its treasures within.
From the grandiose to the subtle there's amazing musical dynamics happening here.
And I love the John Barryesque "The Dwarf Lords" bonus track!

THE LUZHIN DEFENCE | alexandre desplat

One of his earlier scores, similar to Girl with a Pearl Earring. The love theme and its variations are the real delight. A very good score!
    Kazoo
  5. Akira (Yamashiro Shoji)
I rank this one among the best science-fictions scores ever written. The same goes for the film. The last track, "Requiem", is simply transcendental.

Alines vs. Predator: Requiem (Brian Tyler)
A relentless action score. I like it but I seldom hear it in its entirety. It becomes too much.

    Cyrano de Bergerac (Jean-Claude Petit)
An unsung classic! The score was released by the German Colosseum lable back in the day, the European partner of VS. It sounds like a calssic piece of music from the period, the film depicts. Highly thematic, complex and utterly enjoyable.
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

So, I just saw „Prometheus“.  Wow, that was quite a ride! I cannot understand the hatred this film got, I enjoyed every minute of it.  And in every single minute this is one thing: an Alien film.

    What I liked:

    ·         The length: Scott manages to tell a story in two hours. I can’t give that enaugh praise.

    ·         The visuals: just exelent

    ·         An engaging and coherent story. I don’t know what people found unlogic about this story. I had no problem following it.

    ·         I loved the reference to „2001“. In the „Good morning David“ shot, Michael Fassbender looks like Keir Duella. Weyland looks like old-man-Dave.

    ·         I loved Charlize Theron beeing pancaked. That father-daughter thing was crap.

The music: as has been said many times, Harry Gregson-William’s contributions are all over the place and that is a good thing. Streitenfeld’s Main Theme works fine as does his „Weyland“ theme. I wasn’t able to identify much more from the score, the music is just too undiscrimnating
    .
I’m already psyched for the prequel!
Bach's music is vibrant and inspired.

A masterpiece of utter confusion, idiotic characters and many more questions than answers (and in this case that's not a good thing.) It is as if Ridley Scott had no idea what story he was telling.

I felt it was the opposite of all of that.

But like THE HOBBIT, I'm aware that it's a film that separated viewers. I'm just happy that I really liked both.
