I meant, for the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, which include only Iron Man 1-2-3, Thor, Captain America, Incredible Hulk, and The Avengers.

None of them are anywhere close to X3.

Ah, then yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I think I prefer Tyler's score as a whole since it does elevate the movie, it does actually do more than just sit there and fill in the blanks. But then Silvestri composed an actual theme! An ACTUAL theme! shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked shocked which admittedly only gets a full workout at the end credits...

    EDITED:

Fuck, I forgot that one. shame You're spot on, it IS the best score to any character(s) from the Marvel universe so far.

2nd and 3rd is a toss-up between The Amazing Spiderman and The Avengers.

I was referring to El Capitan Americano. Regardless of where its used, that's a damn good theme (not original, but as a proper a theme as any).

    NP: Planes - Mark Mancina

The return of one of the most promising first Zimmer collaborator, and it's an entertaining score, with lots of focus on a catchy theme and fun action passages. Mark Mancina has always been a very melodically inclined composer and this score shows it. The orchestrations are very well done and doesn't lack the bottom end that plague some of his 90s output. And the writing style is style is typically Mancina, balanced and not overly dense. The electronics aren't overwhelming, just complimentary and mainly to support the prominent (and brassy) orchestra. There are also acoustic guitar, spanish trumpet and flamenco guitar, sitar, choir, and even indian voice work and choir(!).
I've read some comments that compared this score to Henry Jackman's and John Powell's work, and, I can't hear it. This is a Mancina score, and you can hear his stylistic flourishes throughout, even his percussion stuff is more 90s rock&roll drumkit vs the heavy drum/bass electronica of Henry Jackman repertoire.

It's very well done music, and I'm excited to hear it with the visuals. It's one of the most entertaining animation score this year for me. Much different than Henry Jackman's Turbo, if not better.

I agree with most of this. I am enjoying it. Some of the drumkit stuff though... even Silvestri might blush at it.

My statement is true regardless of which Silvestri/Marvel collaboration you were referring to. I can't remember either of them and they both would have been more impactful if they would have been used regularly within the film to emphasize the heroicness of the characters. That's part of the reason I remember the IM3 theme so well. I even remember the damn Captain America song more than I remember the theme.

    HAHAH, Silvestri. Sad.

The drum kit seems to be from the Tarzan year too (but sounds even older thanks to Phil Collins, and I like Phil), along with some of the action styling.

NP: Radio Flyer - Hans Zimmer

I'm enjoying this album much more than I did 15 years ago. It's interesting to hear all of the early Zimmerisms that's so pervasive today.
