    Excellent!

Indeed indeed my friend and especially if you have watched the incredibly intense and well built movie it was written for. Works absolute wonders in it.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

I'd say a lot of that Lost sound was inspired by Goldsmith's original Planet of the Apes, so this might be coming full circle again. At least, when I listen to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, I hear Goldsmith references in there (the most obviously in tracks like Monkey to the City).

LOST is a great score in context, but I've never been able to enjoy it much on disc (and I have both volumes). That being said, I do remember there being an intended POTA hommage in one of the sequences (where the characters roam through a POTA-like landscape). Hopefully, Giacchino can channel some of that while keeping to the tone of the film. I have a feeling it's more realism-oriented than the previous film, at least if you go by these excellent prequel shorts that were recently released -- as covered in this news article of mine:

    http://montages.no/nyheter/fox-presente … -the-apes/

Yes, it's a Norwegian article, but you can view the films.
    I am extremely serious.

I had season 1 and season 3. After a check, it seems I no longer have them in my iTunes, though. Must have deleted them.

I think you could make a suite of its various themes and have it appeal to a wider audience than perhaps the full CDs do (and I do understand why they're not for everyone).

Listening to it now, for the first time. So far, not very impressed. I hear a lot of underscore, but not really on the emotional and thematic level of LOST. Still there's a very interesting choral presence and some dissonant action cues like "monkey see, monkey coup" are very interesting to say the least. It's largely athematic i think? Or i am still struggling to identify the theme,(S).

My first listen to a William Ross score for a television soundtrack In My Dreams. After having reviewed Banner Saga and Pit and The Pendulum this is quite a change. Soft on the ears, lots of piano, guitar harmony.

It would have helped me if the silly-arse series ( LOST ) didn't leave a sour taste in my mouth, I think I might have appreciated the music more. As it is there's still a lot to enjoy in these scores.

It's good, great in fact, but I've never quite understood the praise about this score? I could name at least 5 more Newman scores I prefer. Maybe I need to watch the film again.

Fair nuff! I could name 5 more scores that are pretty damned close.

My # 1 Newman is Shawshank Redemption

I might have to agree with that choice, as I can't think of a better example. Though much to your dismay, Skyfall would feature quite high in said list.

That does not dismay me at all! What does dismay me is that you likely place it above any of John Barry's Bond scores. tongue
