Here's another rare theme, from BOB HOPE PRESENTS CHRYSLER THEATER (1963):
http://www.celluloidtunes.net/non-website/chrysler.mp3
Great theme, has some of those fanfare things that he would later explore in his non-film music work.
He allegedly scored seven episodes of this show, but I have absolutely no idea which ones or if they're available anywhere to see.I am extremely serious. -

Well I think I must be a Williams Fan. Before the Joe Hisaishi concert at the Kraków Film Music Festival, Jonathan Heely, Director Music Publishing at The Walt Disney Company, shakes my hand and said: "Oh you are that John Williams fan from SST". This was only because I met Nancy Knutsen, former assitant of John Williams and now vice president of ASCAP, and asked her contact information of his current assistant
But Williams is indeed one of many favorite composers and looking forward to the concert at the Hollywood Bowl end of augustThat's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne) -

I've been keeping a list which I update when I discover a new credit:

Made a couple of rips from the 1960 film BECAUSE THEY'RE YOUNG. The second string theme is particularly gorgeous:

I'm gonna keep posting these, even though I'm apparently the only one to find them incredibly interesting.
I've made three audio rips from DADDY'S GONE A-HUNTING (1969) -- the title song (pretty bad), the music for a romantic montage and some of the brilliant dissonant music:

I received information from Hollywood Bowl organisation that there is an open rehearsal with John Williams on Friday, August 26th from 9:30AM to 12:30PM.

I certainly agree that he has composed serious pieces but only time will tell if he is given a place in American Classical music with Copland, Thomson, Barber, and Hanson. There is no question at least in my mind that his Hollywood material has established him as one of the greatest of all time. Of the composers who have done both I still can't put him in the same category as Rozsa or Korngold. Keep in mind that Korngold was dead for over 30 years before any of his material has been performed on a regular basis.

I've added what the newspaper had to say about the concert last night. Williams wasn't there but as a chamber piece his odd combination of instrumentation worked very well.listen to more classical music! -

Great show at Tanglewood last night, the most stunning venue I've ever been to, this was my second film night at Tanglewood in a row and hopefully not my last.
What a thrill to see John Williams conduct in person again and the performances were all wonderful.
The program started off with some Western music: 'The Cowboys' overture (never dreamed I'd hear this gem live conducted by the man himself), The John Dunbar theme and the theme from 'How the West was won'.
Next Morgan Freeman came on stage to narrate a suite from 'The Reivers' (As heard on the 'Music from Stage and Screen' album). We all know how great a narrator the man is, but to hear that iconic voice in person along with the wonderful music under the baton of Williams himself was quite a thrill! Check out the opening few minutes: http://vimeo.com/27960613
The second half was mostly pieces for solo violin with Orchestra, the solos by Gil Shaham were exquisite. His first piece was the Tango as heard on 'Cinema Serenade' (again to hear my favourite piece from one of my all time favourite albums performed live was something I never thought I'd have the privilege to experience). Next was Remembrances, Jewish Town and the main theme from 'Schindler's List', just stunning. Next was excerpts from 'Fiddler on the Roof' and the theme from 'Sabrina' (the arrangement from Cinema Serenade).
Gil Shaham left the stage and it all finished up with 'Throne room & Finale' from 'Star Wars' and how can you ever tire of hearing that live! Just a wonderful night all round. -

Mmmm nice. Earlier this year I saw the announcement Morgan Freeman was narrating The Reivers at the Bowl Concert, later that announcement was deleted. I was looking forward to see him narrating. Now James Taylor will Narrate The Reivers SuiteThat's the beauty of music. They can't take that away from you. (Andy Dufresne) -
