Good movie, underrated by Pixar's standards.

Wow! Didn't know that and wouldn't have thought that in a zillion years.

Is that the real artwork, Ant? (If so it implies a score-only release which would be a surprise!)

It's a French Canadian swear word! Almost as much fun to say as fuck! But its origins comes from the church. Basically it takes the word "tabernacle" in vain and with a huge Roman Catholic following in Quebec it's a more foul word than fuck!

Also Monte Carlo will be released next month

    MONTE CARLO
    Music Composed by
    Michael Giacchino
(Up, Star Trek, The Family Stone)

A young woman, her uptight stepsister and her best friend use their savings for a long-anticipated dream trip to Paris, which turns out to be a big disappointment. When they decide to take a break from their lousy tour and duck into the lobby of a 5-star hotel, one of them is mistaken for a spoiled British heiress (Selena Gomez does double duty in both roles). Before they get the chance to reveal their true identities they are wrapped up in a whirlwind of paparazzi, private planes, couture gowns, storybook romances, and a vacation in MONTE CARLO.

Academy Award-winner Michael Giacchino (Up) composes a bright and exotic score.

20th Century Fox will open MONTE CARLO on over 3000 screens on July 1.

Nice to see there's seemingly a decent amount of score on the Cars 2 soundtrack (hopefully around 50+ minutes).

Two Giacchino scores on one day.

    SUPER 8

    Music Composed by
    Michael Giacchino
    (Up, Star Trek, Cars 2)

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth — something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.

Destined to be one of the biggest blockbusters of the summer, SUPER 8 is written and directed by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Trek, Mission Impossible III) and produced by Steven Spielberg.

Composer Michael Giacchino — an Academy Award winner for his score for Up — reunites with director J.J. Abrams for an extraordinary adventure that musically returns to the wonders of childhood in what may be Giacchino’s best score yet.

Paramount Pictures will open Super 8 nationwide on June 10.

  8. Great, We don't have to wait to much for this score.
  9. A brief comment about Lost.

The piece he wrote as Benjamin Linus' theme, "Dharmacide", is one of the best uses of leitmotif I've ever heard. A close second would be "Kate's Motel" for Kate.

Would you care to explain what you like about it?
  10. I think with "Dharmacide", he really nailed both the evil machinations and the inherent tragedy of Linus' backstory. And with "Kate's Motel", the repeating string passages perfectly underscore Kate's background as someone who runs endlessly with no destination in mind. Plus, it sounds like a homage to what Herrmann wrote for Marion's journey in Psycho.
