What I find so interesting is the direction his career turned. Of all of the composers I've listened to he did the best Dracula theme.

Apparently Pope John Paul II's favourite music was the soundtrack to John Barry's DANCES WITH WOLVES

    TRUE or FALSE?

Director Carl Foreman hated the John Barry / Don Black song BORN FREE and when the film premiered before Queen Elizabeth II in 1966 the song was absent, in fact it was absent from ALL prints of the film.

Is this a trick question? That is, if we get either right, you're free to say they're false because it's, you know, April Fool's?

TRUE. I don't know where you would find this piece of information, but it sounds like something he would like.

TRUE. Because it just sounds like one of those "fun facts" from a film's history. Like the Alex North/2001 thing.

    Second question, what the hell

Well done most of you, the answer to both questions is TRUE!

In the case of BORN FREE, after the song became a hit it was decided to reinstate it in all prints of the film and hence it became eligable for best song Oscar.

The AIDS in Africa with the condoms I'll never understand. I might not be very holy but I don't hurt anyone.

The phrase 'Mad as a Hatter' meaning someone is bonkers or doing something crazy has been around for a long time, since 1865 in fact, the term being taken from Lewis Caroll's ALICE IN WONDERLAND ( the 'Mad Hatters tea party' etc )
