Got the blender out again this morning!
I've made one of my favourite soups of all time: Broccoli and Stilton
One of my housemates is positively cringing at the thought of blue cheese in their soup but the other two are eagerly awaiting lunchtime. Gonna get some lovely warm crusty bread ready too.

And it was delicious!
Such a simple soup to make as well. I did it this way (makes just short of 4 litres)...
> Soften two roughly chopped onions in a large saucepan.
> Add two diced potatoes and 2 litres of vegetable stock - bring to boil and simmer for about 10 mins.
> Add roughly chopped broccoli (I used two decent sized heads). Simmer for 3-4 mins.
> Crumble in the cheese - as much as you want! I used as much as I had in the house (about 200g) and still could have done with more.
> BLITZ!
> Season to taste.

I love soup. I am thinking of what cheese I could use instead of Stilton.
Also wouldn't it be nice to add crumbled cheese after blending?
I also like courgette soup with chopped smoked salmon added when the soup is in the bowl. -

Some Quorn products are quite good too. Sure, they're not the same as meat, but it can be very tasty in its own right (think of it as an alternative to meat rather than a replacement).
Speaking as an ardent meat eater, I find that these quorn escalopes are just as fantastic as any meat product out there. Quorn can really be fantastic if you get the right product. I once tried quorn cubes, that were supposed to be a substitute for chicken, and they were absolutely dreadful. So it's important to experiment with some different products to suss out which are worthy of your taste buds.

A couple of places spring to mind when it comes to "best pizza". A small restaurant in a small backstreet in Venice. A great little place, very simple and very much off the tourist routes in the city.
I love calzone-style pizza and the best one I had of this variety was from a stone oven in a little pizzeria in Santa Margherita Ligure. I could sit and watch the pizza being cooked in the back of the open oven. A regret though was not knowing at the time I was in Santa Margherita Ligure that Miklós Rózsa spent summers in the town. If I had known I would have had a look around to see if there were any signs of his time there. The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -
