When a 40 minutes score can't sustain his lenght it's a very bad thing.
but There are a lot of GREAT momemtns : SUV chase, Train disaster, Howlywood BLV and The hero and the moon.
i hate this soul/ blues touch, though! -

Love it! How about we use that template from now on! But what about halves??? This one?"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Do you have The Wind And The Lion?
I listened to it once, Thomas has a copy, but I never got into it, as it such an old score with that harsh sound (old recording huh), I didn't really like it... Maybe I should get reacqainted with it."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

I think The Wind & The Lion is considered such a classic by many of the, ahem, older members that if someone shows enthusiasm for something like The 13th Warrior, they assume (either consciously of sub-consciously) that that same person will enjoy The Wind & The Lion just the same if not more. Unfortunately, The Wind & The Lion, as you say, does have that harsher sound to it and, IMO, doesn't make as enjoyable an album as The 13th Warrior. I know this is how I feel simply because I don't listen to The Wind & The Lion as regularly as I listen to The 13th Warrior.
Still, The Wind & The Lion is a fantastic score. -

So what you're saying is you think the score is great, but the actual recording as it appears on album is not?
I'm more of an 80s and 90s fan myself: that's when I grew up with his tunes, earliest score I have of him is Patton, and the next The Omen, from then on it's all good."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Er... maybe.
"" I always associate with humour. "" I associate with feeling good, not 'cheesiness', even if the name suggests that.
Still, I wasn't being serious in the first place. Just bit of fun! ... oops, I mean -

All the President's Men - David Shire
Aaaaahhhhhhh. Brilliant.
Earlier played the Bernstein rejected scores box. Three good scores (had heard Natty Gann beforehand) but maybe, just maybe, slightly underwhelmed by the two big guns. Not sure the kitchen-sink-included presentation really does them any favours - especially when listening to them back-to-back, since Gangs of New York and Scarlet Letter share a very, very similar main motif which runs all the way through all 2.5 hours of them. -

Mighty Joe Young James Horner
Just packing some things before I go down to Portsmouth again tomorrow. (To which then we will decide if we still wanna go up to the Peak District... so I've got some persuading to do. )
Anyway, this score. I love it. -

Oh yes, Mighty Joe Young is an overlooked gem, definitely like this one too, the action stuff is particularly exciting and the windsong is beautiful. Definitely a in my book."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

That reprise of the love theme in the final cue is just outrageously beautiful. The trumpets! Gorgeous.

If At World's End hadn't come out in 2007, I think this would have been my score of the year. Howard doing Celtic is just as delightful as Howard doing quasi-Zimmer-African.I love you all. Never change. Well, unless you want to! -

Playing my selection of favourite tracks from this - Jack Sparrow, The Kraken, Davy Jones, Dinner Is Served, Two Hornpipes and Wheel Of Fortune. Also the web rips of the unreleased Summon The Kraken and The Flying Dutchman Arrival.
My rating - (IMHO) -

NP : The Dark Knight - Hans Zimmer
I love this last track. The electronics and strings combo sounds somehow so lovely at 2am in the morning. It's the kind of composition that only Hans can do and no one else can, full of themes and motifs are all bundled up. And I really want to hear the original cut of this track too. -

I'd rather listen to the superior "Chevaliers De Sangreal." BTW, Hans isn't the only composer that can do what you described above.

Schindler's List John Williams
I've never really understood why people always profess to naming this a masterpiece yet admit they rarely listen to it? It's heartwrenchingly, heartachingly beautiful! Not depressing. Upsetting in places, but not depressing. I've never liked that adjective for this amazing score.

Good score! I absolutely adore the main adventure theme, heard most prominently in Prologue, Remembering Childhood, and The Ultimate War (if I'm not mistaken).
Favorite tracks:
1. Prologue
13. Remembering Childhood
16. The Ultimate War -

Agree.
This touching mind Blowing moments. Like in his earlier days like in K2, Regarding Henry or Thelma And Louise.
This sound reminds me to industrial-urban night lights ( )

NP:X-files I want to Belive (Snow)
The only reason why I listen a Snow score is because the movie.
Ok, this score is a great improvement to the first movie score. But it's not saying very much. At least the synth it's more actual, there are some vocals and orchestra. But that's because Snow copy Philipp Glass, James Newton Howard or even Patrick Doyle....
recorded where??? Guess where..." remote control". ...Alan meyerson, pete anthony.... -

That's true, but Hans hasn't done it much lately (even with Batman Begins) and it's sooo nice when he does.
