- Comment I'd say the "uninspired cousin" - mostly due to the lack of emotions and real drama as I mentioned above.

- Comment
Christodoulides wrote n.p. JOHN OTTMAN - Valkyrie The "they'll remember you" piece with the Wagnerian / Zimmeresque choir and the rich arrangements is the most emotionally vivid composition i've heard from this man. Impressive; more of this please Mr.Ottman.
...

- Comment L'ultimo dei Corleonesi - Ennio Morricone At first I was a bit afraid of this score based on the reviews that all described it as quite hard an album. But then I kept returning to the sound clips at SAE regularly and finally I decided to give this album a chance. I didn't regret it at all. ...

- Comment Alexandra - Andrey Sigle I bought this score based on all the praises it had received here on the forum. You were right, this is a very nice, relaxing and emotional album. Very classical in style and I love how Sigle uses many different instruments in the individual tracks.

- Comment Robin Hood (2010) I have mixed feelings about this one. It is not a fun movie as most of the Robin Hood movies are but it's not a problem for me, I love serious movies. But it is not as dramatic as for instance Braveheart or The Last Samurai. I mean, emotionally it is quite flat and that's ...

- Comment Courage Under Fire - James Horner Because it's been raining for days and I'm in a sad mood I put on this melancholic but very nice score by Horner. The Hymn theme resembles Williams' Hymn for the fallen very much but in this case Horner has his excuse: he wrote his Hymn two years before ...

- Comment Taras Bulba - Franz Waxman This score has everything I love in film music: memorable themes, both lyrical and exciting action writing, wonderful orchestration and performance and an ability to make me feel good. A superb effort by Waxman.

- discussion topic Own a classic score just because you "have to"?
- Comment I don't care if a score is considered classic: if I don't like it, I don't buy it. Therefore my collection misses many so-called classics. On the other hand I have many-many scores that are considered classic by me.

- Comment
DreamTheater wrote [blue]The Man Without a Face[/blue] - James Horner A wondrous listen full of thematic loveliness. - Comment Alla scoperta dell'America - Ennio Morricone Music for a documentary from the '70s. The majority of the themes are good, mostly the love theme (don't ask why there is a love theme in a documentary!). There are some tracks that sound like a brass band, some lighthearted funny stuff and 2-3 ...

- Comment *batteries not included - James Horner It's been a while since I last listened to this score. But it seems that as I get older I can make friends more with those swing tracks. Today I really enjoyed them! It's the second half of the album though that is really good in my opinion. You can ...

- Comment I think this movie has many things Spielberg is excellent at: dramatic war scenes, child actors, emotions. Murpurgo, who wrote the novel writes very nice books and doesn't shy away from difficult topics. As for me, I'm really looking forward to this movie!

- Comment Paycheck - John Powell Not bad, but I still can't get to like all those samples and techno bases. The two Hog Chase tracks are the highlights. I think I would like this score more if there was more space given to the orchestra.

- Comment Cuore di mamma - Ennio Morricone A relatively early effort by the Maestro. Some lyrical, some funny and some dissonant tracks.
