Michael, I'd recommend that you purchase this fine 22 CD set of his work. There are no frills in this set save an excellent price!

NP: FICTITIOUS SPORTS (Nick Mason)
PF drummer Mason's first solo album. A couple of songs hint at the PF sound, but otherwise it's a little jazz-oriented.I am extremely serious. -

NP: PROFILES (Nick Mason)
His second - and to date last - solo album, in collaboration with Rick Fenn. This is more synth and/or pop mode with certain prog vibes. Gilmour guest appears. I like it.I am extremely serious. -

The Stravinsky set is all material that has been released before but if you don't mind the lack of much in the way of liner notes, a cardboard sleeve, and cardboard sleeves for the CD's its a really nice deal.listen to more classical music! -

NP : SYMPHONY # 7 'LENINGRAD' - Dmitri Shostakovitch
A work of pure genius. Mighty, poignant and passionately stunning beyond belief, it's rare that music is History and this music IS History! On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

NP: SYMPHONY #21...Miaskovsky
His symphonies for the most part are dark, dreary, and delicious. I can just imagine some of his material being played during a Hammer horror film!!

NP: Violin Concerto by Jean Sibelius
Reading about Sibelius in Alex Ross's excellent history THE REST IS NOISE has encouraged me to step back into this remarkable work. Conductor is Leonidas Kavakos-vn with Lahti Symphony Orchestra.
Next up: Karelia Suite and Swan of Tuonela (Sibelius), followed by Mahler's First Symphony.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

I would check out some of the box sets that are available, and very cheap, that contain all nine symphonies plus the other works I recommended earlier. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Ralph, if you're interested I saw a box set on Amazon for £18 ( don't know Euro translation ), it's modern recordings by Vernon Handley, a conductor I rate highly, it has all 9 symphonies plus Greensleeves & Tallis and others ( unfortunately NOT Lark Ascending ).
p.s. Did you know his Symphony # 7 'Antartica' is based on his own film score for Scott Of The Antarctic. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

Thank you very much, but money is always a very difficult issue around here. The last score CD I bought was... well... Pirates 3. The next one that I am already saving money for will probably be The Dark Knight. But there are always other sources. I have some very good friends who provide me with new stuff from time to time, but usually, I have to wait for Christmas and my birthday (December 26th) to get some more CDs. Might include one of those boxes you spoke about.

Með Suð à Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust | Sigur Ros
The new album! Woooot!
From my favourite band, so expecting a lot. I was already hooked to the free song they released (Gobbledigook!) but this cd is magnificent already. A lot of happyness, but not more than Takk in fact. Ara Batur with the slow buildup and climax with choir and orchestra is magnificent.

One of my favourite modern albums. I really like the lead singer's vocals, much better than a lot of this indie crap in Britain at the moment. -

Með Suð à Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust | sigur ros
I'm addicted! Innà Mér Syngur Vitleysingur is marvellous music. The typical Sigur Ros orchestra with its trumpets and strings, the vibraphones/xylophones, and Jonsi's voice create that dreamy, almost childish feeling like HoppÃpolla.

Not everything is English.
It means "with a buzz in our ears we play endlessly". Icelandic. There's also a song in English though, and one in Hopelandic, a language they invented themselves, and used a lot on their album without a name, or "( )".Kazoo -

Hmmmm? I wonder how many artists have created they're own language? Have you heard of The Cocteau Twins Bregt? They also sing in they're own 'made up' language. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt
