Indeed. Gets the job done unsubtly. The Edelman approach. But it works!

I like Broadway version (both music and stage itself) overall, even if I have some complaint. But for me it's different thing from the original.
And I just can't stand some snobby Japanese people (non score fans) praising the stage version too much and saying "Julie Taymor made a great stage out of a bad movie blah blah blah"
Where are you living Panthera, by the way? I think they're touring around the United States.
I'm in the US, but I've saw the show maybe 7 years ago or so. It was really great. Although I'd be frustrated if people said the movie was bad. I think both the show and the movie are great. -

I agree! I had to buy three different versions of it, myself, before I finally had the "Ultimate War" in its complete form. grrrr... It's so amazing.''The mandate, as well as the benefit, of responsibility is the ability to tell when one can afford to be irresponsible.'' - Me -

Are there any big action set pieces in the score? I've only seen the film once and I remember it being very forgettable.

Yes.
(And how you can say forgettable!? The first half of that movie is classic Spielberg.

Eagle Eye Brian Tyler
Not a scratch on a truly great score, but it is a bit of fun. I think my respect for Brian Tyler as a person rather than a composer has a great deal of effect on what I hear in his music.
Out of all the composers I know working today, he's very far up my list of those I'd like to have a beer with!

Especially considering he's discussing on Facebook why he's bought a new car - switching his Ferrari for a BMW M3 so he can listen to Close Encounters Of The Third Kind while driving.

I usually hate BWM drivers. But Tyler is an exception to the rule.

The Intersection Scene, rhythmic and scary in a Stravinskian way.....mindblowing!

It's a great arrangement. But I think every note of this score is gold, so I tend to go for the complete score (at a healthy running time of 1 hour 55 minutes, awww yeahhh
).

Not only that, but I do believe it to be very powerful "flying" music. Also some of those early tracks from Eragon. And Basil Poledouris' Flyers, as it says in the name, was very aerial if I remember well.

I don't need to say how wonderful it is and how completely crazy I am about all the Lord of the Rings' scores.
It is the perfect sountrack for the day! It's already dark and it's been raining non stop since last night. So, what more can I want?Open curtains to see the wonderful view, a cup of hot coffee, my book about Quenya and one of the best works ever written in music!
