NP: The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (The Complete Recordings) ~ Howard Shore
I don't need to say how wonderful it is and how completely crazy I am about all the Lord of the Rings' scores.
It is the perfect sountrack for the day! It's already dark and it's been raining non stop since last night. So, what more can I want?Open curtains to see the wonderful view, a cup of hot coffee, my book about Quenya and one of the best works ever written in music!
Sounds heavenly!

This is the Joel McNeely recording. Y'know what James, I think I agree with you that this is actually better than the original!?

It's right up there with the best "after dark" scores!

One of my favourite after-dark scores is Poltergiest. I never listen to that during the day, and mostly when I'm in bed about to go to sleep. Spooky scores relax me apparently!? -

There's a lot of low-key music on the website version, but then it does have a gorgeous theme. -

Well, BODY HEAT is more "let's chill and drink whisky" with the windows open and a warm breeze kind of after dark score ( yeah I know, hardly that kind of weather right now )
POLTERGEIST is an "oh shit!" after dark score

I find Simon Boswell's Lord of Illusions a rather hypnotic "after dark" score.
The expression after dark is kinda funny, don't you think? What comes after dark? After night's done it's morning again, no? So wouldn't "after dark" actually refer to daybreak? Shouldn't we say "after light" when referring to nightfall?''The mandate, as well as the benefit, of responsibility is the ability to tell when one can afford to be irresponsible.'' - Me -

NP: Some tracks from The Cat Returns - Yuji Nomi
I'm playing tracks that have grand orchestra... Track 19. I'm Funbert von Zikkingen, 24. I'm Back, I'm Back Home Now!, 26. Baron. It's surprising this "smaller" film from Studio Ghibli has such a grand score. Both new theme and old theme (from Whisper Of The Heart) for Baron are wonderful.

NP: Deep Impact - James Horner
An underrated Horner gem IMO. Some parts are very reminiscent of Apollo 13 (possibly my favourite Horner effort), especially the main theme, but on the whole this is a deeply satisfying and emotional score.

Only there one only thing worst than listening this score, and it is how it works in the movie.
This score is so awful, that almost put in danger Campbell and Brosman talents.
Next I will play :Indiana Jones and the temple of the doom from Indy Box set
Finally We get more variations of the "bad guy" motif. It's really addictive and catchy motif!! I love it! -

NP: The Blue Planet - George Fenton
What more can really be said about this incredible score? It has to be some of the most majestic, awe-inspiring and goosebump-inducing music ever written for a TV documentary. I'm so glad the BBC natural history department realise the importance of music in their series - this one couldn't have asked for anything more.

Totally agree. I watched the movie yesterday and OMG, the first cues of the score are a mixture of the standard action music of the 80´s and the standard music for porn movies. Vomitive.Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you -

A selection of all the best tracks from all three soundtracks. The old school style of film scoring may be missed, but this is a great example of how good modern scoring can be.
