The two suites - "Harry's Wondrous World" and "Hedwig's Theme" are exceptional.

I'm told the third score is the best however. My Azkaban CD came yesterday, so I shall be checking that one out this evening. cheesy

Thanks for the link, that's a tread I missed.

I can't burn Mel at the stake.....she won't let me slant

plus, due to me, she has a far more healthier knowledge and joy of scores than an average Jane even if she does get names mixed up wink

NP: Trusty Bell (AKA Eternal Sonata) - Motoi Sakuraba

This 4 disk set is excellent. The music is from the game Eternal Sonata, which is based on the famous composer Chopin. Seven pieces of his music are included, but Sakuraba's orchestral score, which makes up 90% of the release, is also very impressive. One action track on the 4th disk incorporates Chopin's piece Revolution. There is a lot of piano music, along with many emotional cues. For a game where music plays such an important role, Sakuraba doesn't disappoint.

Although, since this is a 4 disk release, its going to take a while for it all to sink in. I think every piece of music from the game was included.

    First Listen. Amazing!! punk

Which version do you have Ravi, 1 or 2 discs?

    2 disc one

    Cool! cool

Let us know which disc you prefer, the general concensus ( myself included ) is that Williams re-recording is the more listenable but as I've said before, it's great to have the original tracks too.

I haven't yet started playing the second one, but the first is terrific! punk

    Che - Alberto Iglesias

One of the year's highlights for me. This is a score I'll be returning to with great frequency in future years I think, and there haven't been too many of those released during 2008.

I'm not crazy about JW, but themes he writes are sooooo memorable and famous and great! Journey To The Island and End Credits are really amazing.
    punk

The real end credits is the tracks incorrectly labeled "Welcome To Jurassic Park" The incorrectly labeled "End Credits" is the concert version of the "Journey To The Island" theme.

Oh I didn't know that. Whatever they're called, they're great pieces of music any way! smile

NP: The Ten Commandments - Elmer Bernstein
AN old favourite, an what a fine score it is: robust and overpowering, with themes and lyricism to wake Wagner from the dead! It's amazing to me that I never noticed until years later Elmer never employed a choir in this score!

NP: A League Of Their Own (Complete) - Hans Zimmer

    FUN!

Jazzy orchestral tracks such as Training Playoffs and Win The Crowd are so much fun. And the crazy orchestral "explosion" moment in the beginning of The Final Game always makes me grin. biggrin It's the best way to cheer me up on a rainy winter day!

On the other hand, the piano theme in emotional cues are really beautiful. I love when Zimmer writes beautiful themes for piano (Spanglish, The Holiday, As Good As It Gets...). Are there any other scores by him that have something like that?
