Besides, the JW scores that I desperately want (like the expanded edition of The Fury) are all gone.
While it's great to have the original soundtrack recording on the out of print Varese CD Club release THIS is all you really need of The Fury. It's the re-recording with the London Symphony (that is available on disc 2 of the Varese CD Club release) but includes one extra cue that for some strange reason WASN'T on the expanded Club release - "Death on the Carousel [Original Version]." The original Varese release is the superior listen! $15 used is a good price.

Agree with Erik, 4 out of 5 times it'll be the re-record rather than the original I listen to.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

My copy of Angels & Demons just got shipped, which means it will be awaiting me as soon as I get home tomorrow from work!! Woohoo!! Can't wait!! One of the most anticipated scores of the year!! And I even resisted not to listen to clips!*
* Which is not entirely true, to be honest. I had to watch the apple clip from the score, which got the introduction by Zimmer and Ron Howard, but I thought only to watch the intro by the guys, not to listen to the music... but I couldn't look away... In fact, I think about watching that clip again... Now.

RP: Alfred Schnittke: Film Music - Volume 1
Michael will be pleased that I've picked this one up - a glowing review of his from almost 4 years ago helped decide this one for me (http://www.musicweb-international.com/c … C71041.htm).
Featuring music from 2 of Schnittke's scores - The Commissar and The Story of The Unknown Actor - it's my first experience of this composer's work (in any form). The latter score is far more accessible - as Michael quite rightly mentions in his review - but both certainly hold a broad spectrum of music to absorb!
Ah, such a pleasure to know that even one purchase was motivated by that review. Lovely album. Some of Schnittke's most genuine romantic music.A butterfly thinks therefore I am -

And even more brilliant in its non-official complete form. This is one score I wouldn't think twice to buy a 2-CD edition featuring all the unreleased cues at a ridiculously high price tag... it's that good !!! But cheaper is welcome too.

I've no doubt it would sell very well. It's an excellent score but far from my Williams favourite, I'm not even sure if this would make my Williams top 15
....shows how good he is really

No, it's absolutely AWFUL in that format. By the time I switched to the second disc, I did this ->
It didn't take long before I threw this in the trash bin. But wonderful score and the official Sony release is great album experience!I am extremely serious. -

Well, I actually agree. Those bootlegs are terrible. The music on those bootlegs is fantastic of course and deserves an expanded release, but unfortunately the sound quality and editing isn't. -

You're kidding right guys?
I've heard far worse bootlegs (The 'Burbs comes to mind) and besides, I can still enjoy the music for what it is, even if it isn't in 24 bits 96 khz super duper hi-def quality. I would rather have mediocre-to-reasonably good sounding expanded score than no expanded score at all. And it's definitely in my top 5 Williams.
But my point was that when the time comes this will get an expanded or complete release, it's just a question of how long are we going to have to wait for it."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Blah blah blah blah blah. Same old same old.
While the bootleg does indeed have awful sound the complete score is a stroke of genius and plays magnificently from start to finish!

You must be listening to a bootleg I've never heard before then. I have a 4 disc, a 3 disc and even a 2 disc bootleg.... all of them sound really bad. And not just because it 'isn't in24bit', but because it actually sounds bad. A bloody shame really. Such a great score. -

I agree. I've listened to all of those and the sound quality is horrid. Would be really nice if they give it an official complete release someday! -

If you'll excuse a politically un-correct pun, some of the expanded Williams boots (including HOOK) would have been perfect torture instruments in Abu Graib, unlike the Metallica and country songs they DID use.I am extremely serious. -
