NP : THE LAST VALLEY - John Barry
Fantastic score full of choral brilliance. This is the Silva recording which I return to over the Barry original almost everytime simply because there's so much extra music.

I like this score a lot, and have been playing it repeatedly over the last couple of days. I prefer the action music in Speed Racer, but I love this main theme. -

Superman IV: The Quest For Peace (Alexander Courage & John Williams - FSM Blue box)
I would say that this is one of the most underrated scores out there! "Statue of Liberty Fight" is up there with some of the best music Williams wrote for the original. Too bad this wasn't released separately because I know there are tons of fans who would love to listen to this score but can't afford the price tag of the Blue Box. Personally, I only return to Superman and Superman IV. I could live with out II and III and the TV music... even though the TV scores aren't bad.
-Erik-
Oh I absolutely love Sup II. I think the way Ken Thorne rearranged Williams' pieces for totally different scenes is spectacular. And I particularly like the transitions and new compositions in II, like the part where Clark Kent is returning to the ice palace in the snow. Goosebumps !!! It's my second favourite after the first of course.
I must say this box is slowly revealing it secrets to me. Today was only my second listen of Sup IV and I've yet to re-listen to the animated show and Sup III. Great value as far as I'm concerned."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

Terminator - ZZZZZzzzalvation (Danny Elfman)
He rarely disappoints me. Boring as always.
Do you really not like Elfman?

Not at all.
Not even Wanted? That's like a massive Powell/Giacchino/Elfman uber-score.
Is the filmtracks review true? Are the old themes really absent? Even the TV show was smart enough to use one of the old themes occasionally.

NP : JANE EYRE - John Williams
One of my all time favourite film scores. Such brilliance for a very so-so adaptation of Bronte's novel. When I originally saw this film I didn't know that Williams scored it and was immediately captivated by the music, now how often does that happen nowadays? The vast majority of todays composers can only dream of writing scores of this melodic integrity and dare I say but, with a tiny handful of exceptions, not a one of them could write as brilliant and memorable a theme. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

One of my most-played releases so far!
Btw, for anyone who has watched ANGELS AND DEMONS:
Have you too noticed the big amount of score that's left out of the official CD release!? Too bad 'cause there's some good material in there, mostly renditions on DA VINCI CODE themes.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

One of the things I enjoy with the Ron Jones TV music is listening to how the composer tries to give the impression of Williams' movie scores without actually stating the theme(s) - and therefore limiting the costs. It always makes me smile that they could only afford to buy 30 seconds worth of Williams' main Superman theme for the animated series! The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

NP:Terminator Salvation (Elfman)
Elfman's new "look" really rocks!
I can hear Matrix, Bourne Supremacy, Peacemaker, Transformers and Terminator 3 mixed with planet of the apes.
"Final Confrontatation" is a really kick ass action cue. I love this agressive and dissonant composition. -

NP: Pearl Harbor - Hans Zimmer
Though this is not one of his more praised scores, I am quite fond of this one. Perhaps the movie needed a more subtler, darker approach, but the music here is really lovely. War is one of the really good cues by Zimmer, mixing emotion well with action. The thematic material is very good, too. -

Hoosiers Jerry Goldsmith
One of the best feel good scores I've ever heard, and perhaps Goldsmith's most feel good score. Absolute cheese, but absolutely brilliant! (Rudy tends to be the more popular amongst score fans, but I gotta say I'd choose this over Rudy in a heartbeat.)

Call of Duty (Michael Giacchino)
After the thematic brilliance of Medal of Honor came the less accessible but full frontal assault of Call of Duty. The themes are present though not overly melodic and as easy on the ears as with the MOH games. But this isn't a complaint. In fact I'm glad he did not go the same route with this more gritty realistic series of games and their scores. It's just that the score isn't very varied... it's basically Lost on an insanely high dose of steroids."considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

I think they can possibly add bonus tracks for the iTunes version, Sony often does that. And I detest iTunes!
I'm hoping for a Dark Knight-esque special edition. -

Yep, there the Lost sound became the Giacchino standard sound and so far it hasn't left him yet, which I find a bit sad really. I really would have loved to hear more MOH in scores like Speed Racer, Star Trek and presumably Land of the Lostwaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -
