NP: Night at the Museum - Alan Silvestri
Too... many... tracks!
I finally saw this and listened to the score. The film was watchable at best but seriously lacking in laughs. The music was pretty good, particularly a theme that gets a good workout towards the end ( Dick Van Dyke on a stagecoach being chased by Ben Stiller on horseback ), not sure if I'll ever get around to buying it.
Did you catch this at the weekend, Tim?
The kids were keen to watch this and I flitted in and out of the movie. From what I saw of it it was not as funny as the trailer(s) suggested it would (or should) be.The views expressed in this post are entirely my own and do not reflect the opinions of maintitles.net, or for that matter, anyone else. http://www.racksandtags.com/falkirkbairn -

Full of energy, catchy melodies, heart and swathes of charm (a particular aspect that Powell positively exceeds at).
Absolutely, really fun score. I daresay the most fun score of 2008. -

I don't know.... I really enjoyed the first score, and I think I enjoyed the second score even more (only heard the second one in theaters). -

Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Brad Fiedel)
If one score can divide score fans into the love or hate camp, T2 is that score. I totally love it, and IMO it fits the movie like a glove. I agree its sound is not for everyone, but that's just what I love about it, the greatness of this soundtrack is its relentless action moments full of rhythm and and tempo changes, and the fact this score actually has themes that are used very cleverly. But being an action score, my favorite part of the soundtrack is "I'll Be Back", "Helicopter Chase", and "Tanker Chase". Friggin' awesome chase music!!!"considering I've seen an enormous debate here about The Amazing Spider-Man and the ones who love it, and the ones who hate it, I feel myself obliged to say: TASTE DIFFERS, DEAL WITH IT" - Thomas G. -

NP:Regarding Henry (Zimmer).
I was listening " A Dark Knight" and it remind it me how I love this litlte synthetiser touches from Zimmer in his earlier days. I mean this mind blowing "techno" textures from Thelma and Louise.
Then I remembered how mind blowing some little solo synthetiser was in "Buddy Grooves"
this score motif is perfect for the character. -

Lovely neo-baroque score complete with harpsichord, this is a stunning 20 minute suite. As far as I know an original soundtrack of this film has never been released!? What a damn shame.

It's a lovely theme - but I find the whole 20 minutes a bit difficult to listen to all at once.
There is a 4-minute "version" contained within an eclectic mix here:

Trust the French to come up with an interesting compilation album, even the Barry track isn't the usual ( 'Dances', Out of Africa ), looks really interesting.
As for THE GO-BETWEEN I have no problem listening to all 20 minutes

Something like that? It's been a very long time since I saw it, very decadent and about control from what I remember with a crazy warped ending.
EDIT

NP : SHE - James Bernard
Absolutely gorgeous main theme for 'Ayisha' that in it's eerie glory somehow conjours the essense of a beautiful 2000 year old woman ( played by the stunning Ursula Andress ) not adverse to the odd act of severe wickedness, plus Roman fanfares and a very catchy, jaunty adventure theme. A wonderful score.

NP: Macross Frontier OST 1 - Nyan Furo - Yoko Kanno
Typically excellent Yoko Kanno eclecticism. Her song are as pop and catchy as I like it to be. Her instrumental compositions continue to shine so nicely, like "Innocent Green" with a nice piano/harp combo theme, backed by strings and woodwinds. But her dynamic orchestral work are in tremendous form here. Tracks like "Vital Force" and "Tally Ho" and "The Target" shows a fluid mix of John Williams' symphonic pomp and David Arnold's percussive brass work, while "Bajura" homages Sibelius' "Finlandia" while upping the orchestral grandeur with a slight Goldenthal-esque brass from Final Fantasy. Very entertaining stuff and much better than Macross Plus in the orchestral portions.
Next up: Macross Frontier OST 2 - Nyan Tora with less Yoko Kanno stuff.... -

Judge Dredd Alan Silvestri
I'm listening to the complete score, which if you take out a few of the shorter cues makes for an awesome listen. A fine punchy recording complements Silvestri's testosterone-ridden music very well... love it.
