The opening is quite good, but it's all the same stuff all over and over again friend; it's not bad, but it's not different. It's one thing when you hear it for the first times, but another when you listen to the same techniques and style for over 2 years in a row.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

AVP:R is far better There's a couple of action cues here (final destination) but the rest is snoozing underscore usual in this kind of movies.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

My girldfriend is playing the last Coldplay cd, and with 2 beers and leaving the sacharine voice of his leader, the sound is cool. I could Imagine it's from The fountain or Lazarus project : pìano, acustic guitars, strings...

Probably not as good as I was expecting and it certainly doesn't reach the heady heights of Goldsmith & Horner's scores but it's still a darn fine listen and I like it a lot.

ALEXANDRE DESPLAT - amazone
A score from 2000, a time when Desplat was doing those smaller obscure projects too, which resulted in this wholly delightful and colorful collection of piano and muted trumpet-driven jazz. Technically complex and smooth at other places, make for a long, albeit pleasure background listening experience; especially if you're planning a Sunday dinner with friendsLove Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

As for 2009, James, i am personally disappointed so far. But i won't draw conclusions 'cause there's still the usual bucket of scores to come near Christmas, most of them actually really good most of the times. If i were to choose as it is now, from the 2009 scores that have been released so far, i'd probably choose something by Desplat or Elfman.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

ALEXANDRE DESLPAT - inquietudes
Dark, exotic and mysteriously charming, this is one of the most interesting earlier (2003) scores by the composer, hinting the grandeur that was to follow with the similarly-oriented BIRTH.Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders. -

Mine too. It doesn't feel as good as it could have been, but my God, how addictive is that main theme!?

Star Trek won't be making my Top10 list this year... but Up most certainly will!

I haven't made it though Up in a single sitting yet. Just can't get into it. Looking forward to seeing the film, and hoping that will give me a new appreciation for the score. -

Up was fantastic, but I think I expected it to be good anyway so it didn't blow my socks off. I really had no idea what to expect from Star Trek so the fact it's main theme is THAT addictive never lets it leave the front of my mind, even if Up may be the better score. -

NP: LE VAMPIRE - George Fenton
Probably a tad too romantic or classical for Neil Jordan's tastes, yet even though Goldenthal did a fantastic job with his replacement score for Interview with a Vampire, you can't help but wonder how this score would've played in full. At times wonderfully threatening, at other times sweeping and old fashioned, I'm sure it would've been a great fit with the film. Does anyone know if this is all that was recorded? A release like Bernsteins Gangs of New York would be brilliant! -

NP : Carrie - Pino Donaggio (Deluxe Edition)
One of my favourite films with the wonderful Sissy Spacek .
The film has many striking images and scenes .
Who doesn't remember a blood-soaked Carrie who launches her psychokinetic powers at everyone in the ball room ! I also love the OST and I especially love the theme on this one , it's just beautiful !"Simplicity is the key to brilliance" -
