So, I got the US DVD of Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome in the mail today. I saw this film before as webisodes on YouTube and I liked it enough to want to see it properly. The DVD is the “unrated” one, yet I did not notice any differences, maybe there aren’t any.
Bear McCreary’s score works great in context as usual; it makes you feel right at home in the Galactica universe.
The story is well written and the film as well paced. Given the limited budget they had for this project, the visuals are really decent. Just in some action sequences you might notice poor rendering.
Young Adama has no pockmarks. Maybe those are really holes inflicted by tiny laser drones later on.
Probably because nobody in this film wore suites and tights, this film reminded me more of the original series than any other film in the reimagined series. And that is not a bad thing at all.
Besides: Does anyone know what became of that Bryan Singer BSG project?

I'm at that sad moment where I've watched all the episodes of Game of thrones there is, so now I have to wait a week between each episode. It's like medieval torture.

I'm onto the second season of The sopranos. It's a good show, but I don't enjoy it that much. Out of 10, I give it a 6.
Anyway, Paulie Gualtieri is my favourite. It's the little moments. Like these at 0:19-0:33 and 2:41-2:58 I find hilarious.

So I saw Dredd jesterday night and I really enjoyed it.
It's a Die Hard film set into the future and directed by Quentin Tarantino.
I also liked the score in context, but I don't need to own that on CD.

Iron Man 3
A (what seems to be messy) first half actually introduces lots of little plot elements that come together in the much stronger second. I cannot stress how good Ben Kingsley is as The Mandarin. I will say no more. The effects are top notch and the movie is very, very funny.
Brian Tyler's 60's style end title theme is fantastic. I think the score could have had better effect in the movie if it was mixed louder - and it's pretty loud anyway.
This is Iron Man, the Christmas comedy.
7/10. -

Air Force One
A load of shite really, but at least the music's fun. And that reminded me of what Randy Newman said when someone asked him about having his score rejected. Composers are usually fairly diplomatic and say it's just one of those things, but as I recall, he described Wolfgang Petersen as a jumped up Nazi. -

Black Swan
A movie that really sucks you in, thanks to the amazing performance of Portman. You really see her transforming, and the finale is one huge riveting experience, thanks to of course Tchaikovsky amazing music and Portman's exhilarating performance. WOW

Dredd
The trailer didn't convince me, but the style did. So I gave it a chance. But man what a boring film. I don't have problems with the style or the ultra violent look, no I have a problem with the experience of it. I was just like the junkies in the film drugged, unwilling to show any emotion, mostly due to the absolute horrible score that doesn't give one once of emotion or thrill. Fuck, I could do it 10 times better. Which makes the original ten times more fun as well, thanks to Stallone's presence and above all Silvestri's amazing score. Put this one in the film, and I dig this movie 10 times more.
5 out of 10waaaaaahhhhhhhh!!! Where's my nut? arrrghhhhhhh -

I seem to have forgotten most about this movie so can't go into detail, but I remember being bored and I notice that I've rated it 5 on imdb. Perhaps some day, when I'm not busy washing my hair, I'll give it another chance.

So I have finally seen The Hobbit. In 2D and Panavision.
There are those who deem this film too long.
Well, God with you, I enjoyed every single minute of this amazing movie. I long for the day that I will see all six films in one great matinee.
Lo, I said so in 1999 and behold, I do say so now.
I was right then and I speak truth now.
And that is a FACT!
