    Why i don't have avatar???????????

Because you don´t want to listen the main theme from "Glory" again.

Edit: oh man we are gonna have such a good time watching the film. "Glory", danger motif, Morriccone,.... a movie music orgy.

    Which Morricone? Something in particular?

I think he was getting confused with Sherlock Holmes quoting Morricone!

No I wasn´t. Clip 4, "The bioluminescence of the night". Check out the first few seconds and tell me you don´t see Clint Eastwood.

Oh yes. It will be realized with the time...with the repeated listens.
Love Maintitles. It's full of Wanders.

And once you´ve listened to it in context it is even better. I hope the film is released internationally in 2010.

It contains one of the finest action cues ever composed! Great themes, classic orchestrations... an all around excellent and yet under appreciated score!

NP: Asterix Aux Jeux Olympiques - Frederic Talgorn

Superb score! One of my top favorites from last year.

  1. Superman 1988 Animated Series (Ron Jones, theme by Williams)

Laugh all you will, but there was some good scoring being done here, 21 years ago. It sounds surprisingly rousing, consistent, heartfelt and lovely (without sounding cheesy) for a cartoon soundtrack. The theme by Jones, with a very clear nod towards Williams' legendary theme of course being the foundation of much of the music on this 80 minute disc. Like Williams he uses the theme whenever Supe appears on the small screen as a leitmotif. Structured into a select few of episodes containing each a bunch of tracks, the music has more in common with Williams' epic than one might expect. It's evident Ron Jones wanted to mimic the style of writing, yet while giving it his own voice. That's why this is much more enjoyable than many of today's music, because it's old-school thematic composing, and that never gets old. The FSM Superman box has proved to be one of the best buys for me. Superman needs no explaining, Sup II is awesome, Sup III is not but has moments, Sup IV is great overall and this one completes an outstanding package.

In that case I'll make sure I never watch it ( though it was unlikely anyway ) and just bask in this gorgeous score.

NP: Hunter x hunter (Toshihiko Sahashi)

This soundtrack consists of 50% wonderful and 50% completely worthless tracks. Holy crap I just worship the catchy main theme.

I love this extraordinary albeight criminally short sax version.
Here's a sung version of the main theme, on some weird show.
An instrumental version of the song, with a flute.

Some really good music was composed this year. I'm currently listening to Desplat's stunning main theme from New Moon I haven't been this excited about a Desplat piece since Birth's "Prologue."

It's not quite *as* good, but it reminds me a little of the epilogue Williams wrote for THE FURY.

NP:Avatar (James "I come back for Cameron" Horner )

    EDIT

    The Good:

I really love the first 5 tracks!!!! Specially 4th and 5th.

The main theme (wich is simple but very addictive )and with this kind of crystals is really beatiful.

The electronics ( I don't mean the synthetic strings), but the percusion and "techno" is really well integrated and very contemporany.

Lisbeth Scott and the spy game motif.

    The crystal effects ala Atlantis.

The violin Solos ala The VIllage.

    The remote control anthems. tongue

And...the main theme, Did already say that?

"gathering all the navi clans for the battle" OH MY GOD! punk punk (Does anyone notice the crazy chorus from Zimmer's might of Rome?)

    The Bad

The action stuff is a little bit dissaponting. Sometimes not enough agressive and sometimes a little bit disjointed ( "destruction of...").

The "african" vocals are annoying specially in "jake's first flight".

the 4 notes. 1 time is funny, 10 times is terrible.

Of course it's Horner: Glory theme, Four Feather's theme, Sakakuchi, the flutes from the missing, childrens singing...

I did 3 listenings to Avatar

my rating : 3 and half.

Why not 4? I can't belive Horner only composed 1 new "theme" for this epic movie. The Four Feather's theme is used even more. And what about "pah!!", the 4 notes and the children "african" choir? ......And where is Horner powerful orchestra in this score?

But I like it for the reasons I said in my other post, but probably because I didn't expect nothing and I have some impressive cues here.
