"Small Island" by Martin Phipps which is from the BBC television series. I like it a lot better than some of the stuff I've heard from television lately.

Haven't watched it...what is it about?
A must see movie. I recommend you to watch it. Its very very heart touching. I have cried lot whenever i watch this film. This movie is really turning point in my life. In fact, my attitude and opinions changed on the religion. From that day onwards, i started giving less importance to religion and more importance to humanitarian.
Actually, the movie based on true events happened during Bosnian war. The story revolves around two fictitious characters (Joshua Rose and Vera) through them we have chance to witness brutality of war. They become victims and fate make them meet and eventually, Joshua Rose (Dennis Quaid) would become savior of Vera (Natasa Ninkovic) and her child.
Don't miss it. Highly recommended!Racism, Prejudices and discrimination exists everywhere. -

NP : THE CAT RETURNS - Yuji Nomi & Ayano Tsuji
This is actually on TV right now, I'm not really interested in this Japanese anime but a lot of the music is very enjoyable and I've written this down in my little book of CD's to get.
It's a very good one!
I love that orchestral score by Nomi, which has really nice theme (Baron's new theme), along with lots of pleasant, joyful cues.
I hope he will work on film music more, because his one of two feature film scores (Whisper Of The Heart) is one of my favorite scores. Even though it's less orchestral than Cats (it's mostly small ensemble with electronics), it has some beautiful piano themes, violin solos, and one great melodic theme for Baron

So I decided to play this...
NP: Koro no dai sampo (Koro's Big Day Out) - Yuji Nomi
This is one of very few Nomi's works, available only at Ghibli Animation Museum. Is it worth ¥1000 for a 13 min CD? I'd like to say yes, it's worth buying if you have a chance. Because it's so pleasant! It's more acoustic like Cats than Whisper, and the main theme is simple but as cute as the puppy character (I haven't seen this short movie though)

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow - Edward Shearmur
I enjoyed this score much more when I first heard it. Now it seems kind of empty. I mean, there are some really nice musical moments (like some in the last 1-2 minutes of Finding Frankie, for instance) but as a whole it is boring for me. I would need more melodic music inside all those action tracks. -

There is melody all over this score! Sky Captain's Theme, The Manta Squadron Theme, The Love Theme, Totenkopf motif, etc. IMHO, it's one of the finest scores written in the past ten years!

Unfortunately there is nothing to stop you talking about Zimmer ( a BIG oversight on my part in the bet
) , the bet was that if you lost ( and you did! ) means that JORDI CANNOT PLAY ZIMMER UNTIL FEBRUARY

Timmer, I add "not alking about Zimmer" in the bet.
I don't want to talk, or read, anything about this eternal and stupid discussion about Zimmer and his "limitations". This people talked about the same thing 10 years ago....after The Thin Red lin, Prince of Egypt, as good as it gets, Gladiator, Black hawk Down, the last samurai, the Da Vinci Code, At world's End, Frost/nixon.... They still has the same unfair and weak argumentations.
I always see how Zimmer is judged harder than other composers, when in fact is the composer who make bigger steps in his career (yeap, I know what you will say about this, Dudes...)
it's really surprising see people having scoreorgams with a composer who insults his fans copying his own themes note for note or showing his limitations when he is out of the london Symphony orchestra.
oops! i do it again.
NP: Sahara( Mantsell and Dodd )
the "african" stuff is much more enjoyable and interesting than the Nicholas Dood action stuff, and that's why I still re-listen this score.
Anyway, the main theme is one of the most addictive in the last 10 years!

NP: Hard Rain - Christopher Young
An all-out action score. Got this when it came out because I was so interested in hearing a more commercial side of Mr. Young. Not disappointed at all. Very brassy, lots of percussion, some typical temp track influences, but mucho grande fun. Recommended to everyone. -
