    Deathly Hallows - Desplat

Yes. cool I can't get "Lovegood" out my head.

Yeah, me too. Especially because that one represents so well the Lovegoods. I'm really hoping that Desplat uses that theme in Part Two, for the Luna Lovegood scenes.

NP : ICE STATION ZEBRA - Michel Legrand

Fantastic, large scale orchestral work with some fine and complex orchestrations, I love it!

NP Unstoppable Vs The Town (Harry Gregson-Williams)

Boring, dull and bland, both of them. Harry will never top, let alone improve, his best work for the genre (Spy Game).
Anything with an orchestra or with a choir....at some point will reach you
  2. A Beautiful Mind - Horner

After all this time and all the scores I've listened to, this is still my No.1 favorite score.

The first time I listened to the new Conan, I was so frustrated by the mastering "choices" that the very next score I listened to was The Town and I actually enjoyed it more than Conan. Because the person mastering it actually like, created a proper CD and stuff...

apart prince of persia he seems unable to improve anything during the recent few years. He sounds bored and tired of it all !

A master work! Always a joy to return to.

Indeed it is! (And maybe post the link to the interview in the Gordon thread?)

indeed. Very odd statements. Matt are you being more focused on the sound side of things lately rather than the music itself ? If you go into such details every time it will soon deprive you of all the enjoyment there is in listening to music in the first place.

I don't know if I can help my sensitivity...it's as distracting to me as if the whole orchestra was playing wrong notes... slant

    NP: SOMMERSBY - DANNY ELFMAN

    Gorgeous. cool
  6. Battestar Balactica: S4 "Daybreak" - Bear McCreary

I much prefer the first disc of the set, but this is certainly not a horrible listen in itself. I somehow wished Bear would have ended the series in a grander fashion, though considering how the show itself concluded, it didn't need any kind of grand fanfares and big emotional music. So he scored Daybreak in the most appropriate way I guess. Personally, it just doesn't provide me with fulfilment as a standalone listen.

    UNSTOPPABLE - Harry Gregson Williams

Standard HGW score for Tony Scott but missing the flair and emotion SPY GAME / MAN ON FIRE had and which made those 2 actually pretty good scores. When in calmer mood, the pieces are listenable and perhaps enjoyable to the followers of the composer; but when he goes into suspense mode, the music is loud, noisy, messy and seems pointless. Vivid contrast to the side he showcased with his brilliant PRINCE OF PERSIA score this year.

Well, unlike Pelham, this score in action music is actually harmonically pleasant.

Yeah, as a score for a Tony Scott, it's the first one since Spy Game (and MOF) that I like more than others. The last action track was heavily inspired by Zimmer's Joker theme.

Dead of Winter/Einhorn, a recent Kritzerland release, is yet another introduction to a new composer for me.
    listen to more classical music!
