Thor, though The Space Between Us isn't there, if you look on Spotify you'll find his album AS IF TO NOTHING which features collaborations with, among others, David McAlmont and Bono, it's a very good album too. Also to be found there is his album with The Dolls which I like a lot too.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I've known the names of those albums since the 90s, I think (back when I ordered stuff through mail order), but never got around to them. Now with streaming services like Spotify, it's just a few clicks away.I am extremely serious. -

Perfect Sunday morning listening.
Here's a TASTER
To give you a clue of how much I love this, I have destroyed the first cd from listening to it too much and bought another one!
Amazing pieces! Amazing!!!Whatever you gaze rests on,do not use your vision, but the eyes of your soul...She knows better... -

A worthwhile recording to have in your collection. I could say that this was Mahler before he started writing his own material. The work is also filled with sounds of Beethoven, Bruckner, and Wagner.

Wow! A version that I haven't heard, not only that but this version is by one of my all time favourite composers, JOHN WILLIAMS, conducting the Boston Pops.

I saw this one live last Friday. Of course, I've known this work for some time (though only recently, one or two years before the concert, I heard it in full) now, but it was a great concert though with some issues (the hosts discussing astronomy were often quite misguided, to say the least).
Today I listened to:
Max Richter - The Four Seasons Recomposed
A very interesting work and my introduction to Max Richter, who I will now follow with much more interest.http://www.filmmusic.pl - Polish Film Music Review Website -

Ah man! Decades ago I REALLY wanted that version but couldn't find it for love or money!
Should be a bit more easy to find these days.

Martijn, I found it on Spotify ( with so much of my stuff in storage I'm having to rely on Spotify quite a bit ), on the whole it's better than Bernard Herrmann's version but comes nowhere near my two favourites by Charles Dutoit and Herbert Von Karajan respectively. On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

NP: A SYMPHONY OF HOPE - THE HAITI PROJECT (various)
25 composers from the film and tv world got together to create this surprisingly coherent piece (but also disparate, of course) in a bold, relatively accesible orchestral style.I am extremely serious. -

I've wanted to hear that one.
Halloween being over, I started listening to Christmas music today! I used to think that it was just wrong to start into Christmas music much before December, but I've changed my mind. That magical Christmas feeling starts hitting me earlier and earlier each year lately. And I LOVE Christmas music. Not the nasty pop songs and covers of old classics, mind you. I like the orchestral and instrumental arrangements, as well as more traditional versions of the classic songs. I'm also a big fan of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Christmas stuff. They do Christmas right. Their more recent albums are especially excellent (such as the brilliant SPIRIT OF THE SEASON album on which they collaborated with Sissel).
So far I've listened to the Piano Guys new Christmas album, as well as CHRISTMAS IN LONDON by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Both are quite good. I'm a big Piano Guys fan, and really enjoy just about everything they've done, so to hear them in Christmas mode is nice. The LPO album is very beautiful in parts. The standout track so far being "Stjernesludd," which is a melody I'm unfamiliar with, but WOW, what a gorgeous piece of music!
Both of those albums are on Spotify, btw. -

STJERNESLUDD?!? He, he...is it really called that? Are you sure you not mean "StjernesKudd"?
'Sludd' is a type of weather in Norway where snow mixes with rain.
"Stjerneskudd", on the other hand, means a 'shooting star'.I am extremely serious. -

There was one incredibly moving and poignant moment with Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour close to tears at the memory of a man at the recording session for the song Wish You Were Here, at first nobody recognised the shaven headed, pot-bellied man with crazy staring eyes, finally it dawned on them that it was Syd Barrett.
As you know, Wish You Were Here was written about Syd.On Friday I ate a lot of dust and appeared orange near the end of the day ~ Bregt -

I'm quite fond of Captain Obvious as a meme. He's sort of a cross between the Tick, Adam West's Batman, and reprogrammed Robocop.'no passion nor excitement here, despite all the notes and musicians' ~ Falkirkbairn -

LUMIKUNINGATAR (THE SNOW QUEEN) - Tuomas Kantelinen
Just finished up my first listen to this. It is apparently a holiday-themed Finnish ballet composed just this year? Did I get that right? It's quite good! There's some fun, light-hearted music, some serious ominous music, quite a few dances that are country-themed (there's a Swedish dance, a Russian dance, a Spanish Dance, etc.) Those are fun. Then there's some gorgeous melodies in the same style as the most beautiful music he wrote for MOTHER OF MINE. Check out "XXIII - Pas de deux" for an excellent example of this. It's seven-and-a-half minutes of gorgeousness! -
