Hehe... I had a similar task this morning.

Tom, I read that in Minneapolis it is the legal duty of the public to keep the streets free of snow!

I wonder if that would catch on in the UK?

There's a potential problem Chez Rogers, indirectly related to the weather (and, therefore, on-topic!)

At the moment my daughter's school is closed tomorrow but my son's school is open. This may test my (limited) diplomatic skills. But then again I'm his parent and I could just tell him he's going to school.

Fortunately, I was able to side-step this as both David and Rachel's schools were closed today. And they are closed tomorrow also.

That applies to Belgium as well. Though, not much people do that, also because we mostly have ice snow and not the easier to remove regular snow that doesn't stick to the pavements.

Wow! That's news to me. It's not being followed very sincerely. I don't mind the snow. it's the slippery ice that's dangerous. Walking to/from my apartment can be a tricky affair.

biggrin Well close to home anyway! About 90 minutes by car. It is a little cabin that my brother-in-law built himself.

There is no electricity so it was a rustic new year's eve and day! The bathroom is outside. Brrrrr smile It is easier for guys than for women! My brother-in-law built a shower and the water comes from the fresh stream. It is heated by a small heater during 3 seasons. It is really cool to be talking a shower and have the sky above us.

On new year's eve, we skated on the pond next to the cabin. There was a full moon that night. Simply gorgeous. The bubbly and the rum punch did help to stay warm!

This one was taken an hour before midnight- we had to digest the big meal that we just had. A bunch of us went cross country skiing and snow shoeing in the woods.

We had fun. If A Twilight gay protagonist is what would scare you so much, you might consider wearing a wig and a dress and no one will notice! Ok maybe a bit of makeup might help too wink

It was very special. We had a course of four cheeses with bread and crackers along with wine/ beer to start off. Then we moved on to a traditional meat pie from a region in Quebec. Never had beaver wink Deer? We saw a few in the woods the following morning. The only animals we see around there during the winter apart from the numerous squirrels.
