    Hey! Glad someone noticed! wink
Not exams but a technical conference kept me busy. Plus I have a bunch of papers to finish so I'll be like this for a while. I suspended my Netflix account so no movies, sad and the only music I get to hear is during gymming.

Even in it's complete form "The Jungle Chase" it's still far below ANY of the action cue in the other three films. It's just not exciting!

NP : MY LIFE - John Barry

I now find it hard to believe that I wasn't very keen on this initialy, it's a gorgeous little score.

Lineage II: The Chaotic Chronicle (Bill Brown)

Now the soundtrack of this features some great videogame music, with an epic feel to it. Thematically it may be one of Bill Brown's strongest. But due to the fact these cues are written for standalone moments and events within the game world, it doesn't have much continuity... But the music presented here is of a varied and energetic nature. The orchestra and choir does it best to keep you enthralled throughout with powerful battle music. And there are some moments of genuine beauty in the softer vocal tracks.

Given that this score was never officially released and there are numerous webrips and gamerips floating around...I am curious which version of the score you're referring to?

That would be a self-made version, over an hour long. The full gamerip is just too much to handle and there are many boring filler tracks. Like I do most of the time with these overlong gamerips I only compile a selection that I think is a great presentation of the music.

Should get a release though... I think Brown's music is a match for any recent film-related release.

The Journey of Natty Gann - James Horner

I love this. Vintage stuff. And it's more like a pastoral Elmer Bernstein gem than Bernstein's own rejected score from this film (which itself isn't bad, but the Varese album of it is unlistenably long).
  2. I think with Natty Gann, Horner composed one of his most memorable and gorgeous main themes he has ever done. It sticks in your head and doesn't let go.

Agreed! And I think it's one of his finest scores! And the album is nothing short of perfect!

  3. Took a break from Intrada today and listened to:

    "Benny & Joon"
    Rachel Portman

A strong score by Portman and a fun listen. And hey -- the song from the film isn't bad either.

Been quite some time since I played this... LOVE the choral tracks! Undoubtedly one of Alan's best scores.

EDIT: I now noticed And He Shall Smite The Wicked is influenced by the "Riders Of Doom" music from Conan The Barbarian! biggrin
